Schipperkes
The members of the Schipperke Team are Janice Philpott with ARADET EXPERT TIMING (Zorro); Mandy Rollinson with CHADBOWER BONNIE ISLA (Isla): Chris Moss with BAHRAM BEAUREGARD (Percy); Bev Manners with KOMARGO’S CRAZY DIAMOND (Sid), and Jenny Butters with SHELLKIRMA RAINBOW QUARTZ OF COCOBOLA (Eski).
Way back in the mists of time, I was camping at a dog show on the Isle of Man. I just could not stop looking at this little black dog without a tail, walking on the backs of the collies it was with. I’d never seen anything like it before and enquired what breed? Thus my love of Schipperkes began. The following year I was on a Kathy Murphy obedience training course and again, found myself transfixed by a little sandy coloured dog with a curly tail, who was quite happily balancing on a large fitness ball. So again I enquired ‘What breed?’ and that is how I met Janice Philpott and the amazing Toby Philpott.
In the fullness of time, Janice pointed me in Mandy Rollinson’s direction to obtain my first Schipperke. Once I started competing in Obedience with my girl we would bump into Chris Moss and her handsome little lad. In the pursuit of another Schipperke Mandy introduced me to Bev Manners, breeder of my fabulous William.
The team is made up of, three dogs, two bitches and ten very variable legs! Six legs are at home in the obedience ring, all ten have graced the breed ring and at least six have run round agility rings. One of us has even competed in Field Trials and Working Trials. Between them the dogs have two Nov Ex’s, one RL4, three CC’s , numerous KCGCDS awards; whilst one is now Grade 5 agility and another is coming out of retirement.
Life is never boring when shared with a Schipperke and we are looking forward to this brilliant opportunity to showcase our wonderful little dogs. Despite all the training they have a distinctive character, funny, intelligent and definitely full of their own importance. It has to be said that the handlers take after the dogs ...so we are looking forward to strutting our stuff!
Oh the little black dog was Ann Daniel’s Franhowel Toss, who worked in the Inter-Regional Competition for the Northern Team, can’t remember which year but can remember applauding loudly in the stands, which is what we’d like friends and fellow Schipperke fans to do for us!!
